Gutermann convinces jury at Guardian Sustainability Award 2012

Gutermann, together with its customer Albstadtwerke, finalists at the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards 2012

Gutermann and Albstadtwerke have been recognised as pioneers in the water industry and qualified to the finals of the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards this year. Gutermann's Zonescan Alpha permanent water network monitoring technology was second only to SAB Miller's initiative "Producing more beer with less water". 

The British daily newspaper "Guardian" conducted for the second time its Guardian Sustainable Business Awards in May. The GSBAs reward best practice in sustainable business. They showcase innovative corporate initiatives that tackle the most pressing environmental and social challenges businesses face. From managing water risk to energy independence via communicating sustainability and social impact. The GSBAs are for initiatives that are part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy. The judges are looking for projects that are more than plans, they need to have made an impact. They're also looking for projects that are replicable and that offer foresight to inspire other businesses to act. The judging panel was is up of some of the most influential thinkers from the world of sustainable business, from Jonathan Porrit and John Elkington, to Polly Courtice and John Sauven. Judges were asked to reward innovative corporate sustainability projects that are fully embedded and replicable.

In the Water category, an award given to a pioneering project that demonstrates a dedicated approach to water stewardship and holistic management of corporate water risk. Gutermann and Albstadtwerke have installed the first automatic leak monitoring, alarm and pinpointing system in the world, improving the leak detection process drastically and reducing the time and costs with detecting leaks in Albstadtwerke's water network significantly.
